Usage:-Sarkar is both a surname and a title as well mostly used by Bengalis.It is predominantly an honourific Indian title but later several communities adopted it as their surname and as their so-called title.
Meaning:-“SARKAR” means landlord,the one with the supremo authority,the one who holds the power of governence.In the persian region,it means SARGENT or the one who is on duty.All the above meanings of Sarkar is synonymous at all.
Present Status:-In present days,Sarkar is widely used among the Kshatriyas(Suryavanshis) and the Kayasthas(Dey Kaysthas) of Bengal province(both in the Indian state of West Bengal and in modern-day Bangladesh).Exceptions are also there as even Shudras also adopt this.
